The Galtee Mountains are a mountain range in Munster, located in Ireland's Golden Vale across parts of counties Limerick, Tipperary and Cork. The area has a tradition of dairy farming, and the name "Galtee" is now synonymous with one of Ireland's largest food companies which began in the area. Mitchelstown, nestled on the Cork side of the mountains, is the main market town and centre of commerce for the region.
Galtee Honey Farm is situated at the foot of the GalteeMountains in the beautiful Galtee/Vee valley it is our home and bee breeding apiary and is based at Glengarra Wood beside the main Cork/Dublin road, mid way between Mitchelstown and Cahir.
The Galtee Bee Breeding Group features quite strongly as it was founded due to Micheál's ideas formed while he researched for his NatDipSc(Apic) Micheál himself has been chairman of the group since it's inception.
Each year there are a number of visits to Galtee Honey Farm from international beekeeping tours, these come from Great Britain and the continent of Europe and need to be booked well in advance of the intended visit.
A scenic County, fashioned by the GalteeMountains, the River Suir and rich, lush, green landscape, Tipperary is where the visitor is king.
Angling, golf, mountain walking and caves are all to hand and there's the Rock of Cashel, countless abbeys, castles, and forts to explore, experience and enjoy.
The Glen of Aherlow stretching from the N24, south of the famed town of Tipperary sits snugly between the GalteeMountains on the South and the Slievenamuck Ridge on the North.
