Encyclopedia > Game Over (TV series)

Game Over was a short-lived UPN series produced by Carsey-Werner-Mandabach Productions, LLC. It is aimed at teenage audiences and focuses on what happens to your favorite video game characters after the game ends. UPN had hyped the show a lot before its debut. Some people were skeptical of this because of UPN's track record with their cartoons.

The show is based around the Smashenburns, a far-from-ordinary suburban family who lives in an alternate video game universe. Only five episodes of the show were ever aired.

The show's characters include:

  • Rip Smashenburn, a Grand Prix driver who races every day and crashes his car all the time
  • Raquel Smashenburn, a covert agent who fights monsters and is some sort of Lara Croft rip-off
  • Alice Smashenburn, a cynical yet socially conscious 14-year-old
  • Billy Smashenburn, a 13-year-old hoping to become a rapper
  • Turbo, a 300-pound talking creature who robs pawn shops and smokes cigars
  • The Changs, a family of kung fu-fighting Shaolin monks

The show's stars are:

The title of the series comes from game over, a common phrase at the ending of various video games.

Game Over (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (355 words)
This should not be confused with Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over or the short-lived animated TV series Game Over or various books on the video game industry named Game Over somewhere in their title.
Game Over (originally titled Maximum Surge Movie) was made by combining 65 minutes of original footage with 35 minutes of footage originally filmed for use in five different Digital Pictures games: Maximum Surge (largely believed to be unreleased), Corpse Killer, Prize Fighter, Supreme Warrior, and Quarterback Attack.
The storyline ties all these games together as being part of a game that the main character, Steve Hunter (played by Woody Jeffreys), has to play in order to save the world.
