Gandhar is a gotra or clan of Jats found in Uttar Pradesh in India. During the Mahabharata period the present Kandahar province of Afghanistan used to be called as Gandhar. The princess of Gandhar was married to Dhritrashtra. The descendents of Gandhar rulers are known as Gandhars. The Gandhar clan Jats are found in village Raghunathpur tehsil Bisauli district Badayun in Uttar Pradesh. A clan is a group of people united by kinship and descent, which is defined by perceived descent from a common ancestor. ... Jats are now preeminently a farming community. ...
