Gannawarra Shire is a Local Government Area in Victoria, Australia. It is located in the north-western part of the state. It includes the towns of Cohuna, Kerang, Koondrook. It has an area of 3,728 square kilometres. In 2001 it had a population of 12,300.

After two years, all legal cases between the GannawarraShire Council based at Kerang and more than 260 farmers over the equity and methods of the shire's rating structure, are now closed.
GannawarraShire Council Chief Executive Peter Bollen described the deal struck early this morning with the Gannawarra Rate Payers Action Group as signed, sealed and delivered.
Meaning the GannawarraShire will conduct a review of its rating strucutre, which both farmers and the council hope may avoid a dispute in future and John Smith says although the deal has been signed, the issue is not dead.
