Hongcheon - Galbijim (263 words)
To the north is the city of Chuncheon and the county of Inje, to the west are the counties of Gapyeong and Yangpyeong of Gyeonggi-do, to the south are the counties of Hoengseong and Pyeongseong, and to the east is the county of Yangyang and the city of Gangneung.
Mountains are relatively high in the county, including those to the north: Gamabong (가마봉, 可馬峰:1,192m), Eungbongsan (응봉산, 鷹峰山:1,103m), Gachilbong (가칠봉, 柯七峰:1,240m), Eungboksan (응복산, 鷹伏山:1,360m), Durobong (두로봉, 頭老峰:1,422m), Odaesan (오대산, 五臺山:1,563m) and Gyebangsan (계방산, 桂芳山:1,577m), as well as Balgyosan (발교산, 髮校山:998m) and Unmusan (운무산, 雲霧山:980m) to the south.
As the county is located far from the sea it lacks its moderating influence and temperature extremes are large.
