Garden County is a county located in the state of Nebraska. As of 2000, the population is 2,292. Its county seat is Oshkosh6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 4,483 km˛ (1,731 mi˛). 4,414 km˛ (1,704 mi˛) of it is land and 69 km˛ (27 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 1.54% water.
Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,292 people, 1,020 households, and 658 families residing in the county. The population density is 1/km˛ (1/mi˛). There are 1,298 housing units at an average density of 0/km˛ (1/mi˛). The racial makeup of the county is 98.34% White, 0.13% Black or African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.52% from other races, and 0.48% from two or more races. 1.44% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,020 households out of which 24.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.90% are married couples living together, 6.00% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.40% are non-families. 32.50% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.20% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
