Garibaldi was a Mexican group of young men and women, wearing a very free version of the traditional charro costume while singing modern songs, causing some controversy. The name Garibaldi comes from a place in Mexico City where mariachis (traditional groups of Mexican singers) can be found.
Many of its former members made careers as actors, singers and presenters, like Patricia Manterola, Pilar Montenegro and Ingrid Coronado.
Other members are:
Katia Llanos
Victor Noriega
Luisa Fernanda Lozano
Sergio Mayer (who participated in BigBrother VIP Mexico in 2004)
Garibaldi escaped to Marseilles and afterwards to South America, where he offered his services to the province of Rio Grande, which was in rebellion against the emperor of Brazil.
Garibaldi retreated pursued by the Austrians, to the Adriatic where Anita, worn out by suffering, died and was buried in the sand.
After the peace of Villafranca, Garibaldi with the permission of Victor Emmanuel, went into central Italy as second in command and helped to finish the annexation of the territories to Sardinia, but was not allowed to march on Rome as he desired.
Garibaldi was born at Nice and as a youth entered the Sardinian navy.
By then he had renounced the dream of an Italian republic and gave his support to Cavour, publicly declaring that the monarchy as represented by Victor Emmanuel II should be the basis of Italian unity.
Garibaldi was elected to the Italian parliament in 1874, but his political career was undistinguished.
