Garth Porter (born September 24, 1948 in Hamilton, New Zealand) is a Country musicsongwriter who co-wrote some of the songs, with Lee Kernaghan, for the live Musical theatre production The Man From Snowy River: Arena Spectacular. He was the keyboard player with the Australian group, Sherbert, and co-wrote most of the groups hit songs, the best-known of which is probably "Howzat?" He sang lead on "Hollywood Dreams" with Sherbert. He is now a record producer and song-writer. Garth's debut was a success, crossing over into the pop album charts, but it was overshadowed by the blockbuster appeal of Clint Black, as well other similar new male vocalists like Travis Tritt and Alan Jackson.
Garth admitted he had been cheating on wife Sandy, and at one concert (in the early 90's when opening for Eddie Rabbitt) someone in the audience shouted "Go back to her, Garth!" His marriage to Sandy ended in late 2000.
