Garudhiya (ga-ru-dhi-ya) is a product mainly consumed by Maldivians, since their beginning. Believed to be originated in the Maldives, this comodity is also a traditional food item in this esteemed country. This curry based soup is prepared using a simple recipe. Tuna fish boiled in water with salt, till it is well cooked. Then the foam created on the top of the soup, GARU, will be removed from the soup. Some use chilies and onions to flavor the soup according to their likes while others simply prefer just fish and water.


Garudhiya has concreted its place on every Maldivian dinner table, and has been so generations ago. Garudhiya is used just like any other curry. With rice, or rotti, and just like Rihaakuru. The use of garudhiya is only limited by ones imagination. Rihaakuru on a plate. ...
