Gary Richard Forney (born February 12th, 1953) American Song Poet and Performer. Born in Oelwein, Iowa. He starred in Off The Charts The Song Poem Story, broadcast on PBS in 2003. The film gave him status as a cult icon in the little known field of "song-poem" music. He has furthered his career with legendary performances in Chicago, along with other venues. Forney has resided in LaPorte City, Iowa since 1990 with his wife and daughter. He continues to write song poems and music which he performs with his son, Joshua Forney.
