In November 7, 1988 he moved with the majority of Cutler's team to Microsoft, where he was a member of the initial team that developed Windows NT. In particular he worked on file systems, porting DOS's FAT and OS/2's HPFS filesystems to NT. He also worked with Tom Miller in designing and implementing the first version of the NT File System.

Gary Slovin has accomplished a lot in his four decades as a lawyer, starting his career with a small firm in Philadelphia.
Gary specializes in government relations, including representation of clients before government agencies, negotiating agreements with regard to contested matters, and representing clients before the Hawaii State Legislature and the Honolulu City Council.
Gary currently serves as president of the Honolulu Zoo Society, an organization that he believes is critical in preserving the wildlife population in the state for posterity.
Gary shares his unique view on working with companies and government to bring their mission to life.
Gary Maunakea-Forth was born and raised in the farming community of Levin in Aotearoa-New Zealand, coming to Hawai`i 1989 to be a player-coach for the Hawai`i Harlequins Rugby team.
Both are graduates of the University of Hawai’i, Gary with a BA in environmental studies and political science and a MA in political Science and Kukui with a BA in Hawaiian Studies.
