King began his career as a mobile DJ after giving up plans to be an actor and quickly progressed to the London training ground of Radio TopShop. After winning Gold at the 2006 ceremony in the 'Best Regularly Scheduled Music Programme' category, this year the show has won Silver for 'Best Oldies/Nostalgia Format' at a lavish ceremony held at The Tribeca Rooftop in Lower Manhattan.
