But at $1,700, the Gasmobile Stanhope Phaeton, manufactured since 1898 by the Automobile Company of America at its factory in Marion, N.J., was too rich for most.
Today, as far as anybody knows, only two Gasmobile Stanhope Phaetons survive, and one of them - the only three-cylinder model extant - is among the latest acquisitons of the Auburn- Cord-Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, Ind.
