History
The first edition of the Gazet van Antwerpen appeared on November 3, 1891. Its editor was then Jan Baptist Napolitaan Van Os, a catholic. Shortly thereafter the company NV De Vlijt would takeover the newspaper. In a short time the paper saw its circulation soar to 25,000 in 1893 and 40,000 in 1896. Around the First World War, the paper's circulation was just short of 100,000, but it won't be published during the First, nor the Second World War.
