Emerl

Emerl is a robot or cyborg (he says he is a living being with a heart and free will and made of human parts) said to be a destructive weapon called the Gizoid, as discovered by Professor Gerald Robotnik. Gerald attempted to nullify his destructive programming, but was unable. In an attempt to curb it, he gave it the same qualities as Shadow, a "soul" based on that of Gerald's granddaughter, Maria. Professor Gerald Robotnik is a fictional character in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. ...

Doctor Eggman took him in the hopes of using him to rule the world, but tosses him aside when he finds no use for him. Sonic the Hedgehog finds him on a beach and he and his friends teach him how to fight. As the player plays the Story Mode, the player reveals abilities for Emerl to use. These abilities are the various moves known by Sonic and the other characters in the game. Also, in the original Japanese version of Sonic Battle, Emerl is known as 'The Ultimate Being', as opposed to Shadow being 'The Ultimate Lifeform'. In the end, Emerl's ancient Gizoid powers are awakened, causing him to go crazy and try to destroy the world. He is defeated by Sonic in an attempt to stop him, but self-destructed in the process. Emel

In the TV series Sonic X, Emerl was called Emel because of a mistranslated R. A combat robot built by Dr. Eggman, Emel is activated by Bokkun to help him distract Sonic while the Dr. is being broken out of prison. With the ability to copy the attacks of anyone he sees, Emel is a formidable opponent. He joins Sonic and co., particlularly becoming friendly with Cream the Rabbit. As he watches Sonic and the gang in action, he copies their moves. Sonic X characters Spoiler warning: Sonic X (ソニックX) is the newest Sonic the Hedgehog animated series, based roughly on the storylines of Sonic Adventure series. ... Bokkun, is a fictional character in the anime Sonic X. He (he could be male, androgynous, or female, (but generally considered male), is employed by Doctor Eggman to send messages to Sonic that come in a form of a TV that blows up right in anyones face. ...

Like several other characters, Emel enters into a fighting tournament for the red Chaos Emerald. After winning, Emel is driven insane as he absorbs the Emerald. His old programming, wiped because of his defeat at Sonic's hand, is restored, and he sets about destroying the area. Despite the efforts of Sonic, Knuckles, Rouge, Tails, and Amy, Emel is unstoppable. This is because, since he can duplicate all their moves, he can match anything they throw at him.

Finally, Cream the Rabbit and Cheese defeat Emel by working together, alternating attack positions too fast for Emel to copy. Overcome, Emel falls into the ocean and sinks, then explodes.

E-121 Phi

E-121 Phi is an E-100 model built by Dr. Eggman, based on Emerl's design.. The Phis' ability to copy attacks is identical to that of Emerl, but since the ability is only powered by Chaos Emerald shards, as a whole it is weaker than Emerl's. The original basis of Phi's creation was on Dr. Eggman's misconception that Emerl was broken. However, after Eggman realized his mistake, he sent the Phis to capture Emerl. Emerl eventually destroyed all of the Phis, and collected the Emerald shard that the Phis used to power themselves. The only physical difference between Phi and Emerl is Phi's grey hue, as opposed to Emerl's yellow. A Chaos Emerald is a mystic item that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog video games, allowing the holder of all seven of them to achieve ultimate power, and certain characters from the Sonic world can transform into a super form as a result of this (see Super Sonic). ...

Gemerl

Gemerl (also occasionally referred to as Gemel or G-Mel) is a character in Sonic Advance 3. Built by Dr. Eggman, he has a very similar appearance to Emerl, because he was rebuilt from Emerl's ruined parts. He is black and yellow with red and blue eyes. You fight him on various occasions, and he also co-pilots Eggman's mechas in boss stages. In the final battle, Gemerl uses the power of the Chaos Emeralds to transform into a powerful sphere shaped machine. He then betrays Eggman and flies off. Sonic then becomes Super Sonic and teams up with Eggman to defeat Gemerl. At the end of the game, Cream and her mother find his broken body on the beach, and take him to Tails. Tails then re-programs him to be just like Emerl again.

Abilities

  • Like Metal Sonic, Emerl and his various forms have the ability to copy abilities from other beings.
  • If the Sonic X series is true to form, Emerl cannot copy more than one being's abilities at a time, and takes a certain amount of time to do so.
  • Emerl is able to use the attributes of all the characters he scans.
  • In Sonic X, Emerl is equipped with a jetpack, and thus does not need to copy flight ability.
  • Gemerl has the ability to metamorph into a super-powered sphere robot.

Personality

Emerl has varying personalities, depending on his allies. In addition to copying moves, Emerl also copies certain traits of the characters he interacts with. This leads him to adopt a personality similar to Sonic's in the games. In Sonic X, however, Emerl is a silent bystander for the most part, with no known personality.

Emerl also develops bonds with the people he meets. These bonds produce particular results, such as with female characters: Emerl refers to Amy as "Mom" and is also very chivalrous, giving Cream flowers. However, Emerl has one serious drawback: he forms an immediate bond with those who have ultimate power. Since only evildoers are insane enough to do this, Emerl immediately forms bonds with them.
