Encyclopedia > GenCorp

GenCorp was the final corporate name of the former General Tire and Rubber Company, formerly a major U.S. maker of automobile tires.

It adopted this name in 1984. When it spun off its scandal-ridden broadcasting division, RKO General, and sold off its major remaining asset, the General Tire division, in 1987, the company effectively ceased to exist.
