The General Electric CFE738 is a small turbofan engine aimed at the business/commuter jet market, and is used on the Dassault Falcon 2000. GE-Aviation, a subsidiary of General Electric, is headquartered in Evendale, Ohio (a Cincinnati suburb). ...
It has been suggested that Fan (turbofan) be merged into this article or section. ...
The Falcon is a family of business jets manufactured by Dassault Aviation. ...
Overview
The CFE738 is comprised of a single stage fan, driven by a 3-stage low-pressure (LP) turbine, supercharging a 5-stage high-pressure (HP) axial/centrifugal compressor driven by a 2-stage HP turbine. The engine has an overall pressure ratio of 35:1, which is extremely high for an engine with a centrifugal compressor. Other cycle parameters are a bypass ratio 5.3 and airflow of 240lb/s. The take-off thrust is 5600lbf, flat-rated to ISA+15C. It has been suggested that this article be split into multiple articles accessible from a disambiguation page. ...

A supercharger (also known as a blower) is an air compressor used to force more air (and hence more oxygen) into the combustion chamber(s) of an internal combustion engine than can be achieved at ambient atmospheric pressure. ...
A centrifugal compressor, also called a radial blower, squirrel cage, or squirrel wheel compressor, consists of an axle to which is mounted a cylindrical assembly of compressor blades. ...
Overall Pressure Ratio is an engine cycle term used in Gas Turbine Engineering and is defined as the ratio of the stagnation pressure at combustor entry, to that at compression entry. ...
In aeronautical engineering, and jet engine design in particular, bypass ratio is a common measurement that compares the amount of air deliberately blown past the engine to that moving through the core. ...
- In the late 1980s, GE proposed a turboprop, the "T407" or "GLC38", for the Lockheed P-7, with a maximum takeoff power of 4,475 kW (6,000 SHP). The CFE738 is based on this engine.[1]
The derivative GE38-1B (7,500 shp) is slated to power the new Sikorsky CH-53K three-engined helicopter for the USMC. [2] The Lockheed P-7 was a four turboprop-engined patrol aircraft ordered by the U.S. Navy as a replacement for the P-3 Orion. ...
