General knowledge is a term used, usually in quizzes, to describe a fact or question that does not fit into any proscribed topic (e.g. art, music, sport, television, history, geography). General knowledge could also be described as the things someone know about different subjects that are not related to their common life; like if i could tell you in what year Alfred Hitchcock is born/died, that would be part of general knowledge.
