According to his official biography, Genjuro was born in Anjoumura, Yamashiroguni on June 9, 1760. He stands 1.82 metres, weighs 82.5 kg and his blood type is AB. His weapon is a katana named "Baioudoku." His distinguishing features are a large scar going from his left shoulder halfway down to his back, and a pink ponytail. In times of peace, he likes to gamble and drink sake and use prohibited drugs. Little is known about Genjuro's childhood; he claims to have killed his family and at least a thousand other people. His mother was a prostitute, until Genjuro killed one of her clients. As he went to leave, she attacked him, leaving the scar on his back, and he killed her. Prostitution is the sale of sexual services, such as oral sex or sexual intercourse, for money. ...

Eventually, he became a student of Kafuin Nikochin along with Haohmaru. The two became very close friends and one of the best samurai in the academy. Then Nikochin decided to have Genjuro fight Haohmaru to determine who was stronger, in order to give him a special scroll. The two men fought for hours, until Genjuro defeated Haohmaru, and had to be restrained from killing him. Genjuro has made it his goal in life to bring suffering upon Nikochin and Haohmaru. He hates Haohmaru especially because he resembles the man his mother was with when he killed them. He is travelling through the country, picking fights with (and most of the times killing) anybody on his way.

Trivia

• Genjuro is voiced by Kong Kuwata, who also voiced Fatal Fury's Geese Howard and Duck King, as well as Samurai Shodown's Neinhalt Sieger.
• Most of Genjuro's special attacks are based on the Japanese cards deck known as Hanafuda, with the actual hands being derived from the game Koi Koi.
• The only games outside the Samurai Shodown series that Genjuro has had an appearance in is SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom and the upcoming NeoGeo Battle Coliseum.
