Geoff Murphy directed some significant New Zealand movies in the late 20th century.

Murphy also directed Fortress 2 (1999) in Luxembourg and Young Guns II (1990), Freejack (1992), Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995), and Absolute Zero (2000) in the United States. In addition, he helped out on Peter Jackson's epic shoot for the Lord of the Rings movies by doing some second unit directing work on The Two Towers.


Geoff was a founding member of the New Zealand musical cooperative Blerta.
