The Reverend Geoffrey Anketell Studdert Kennedy (June 27, 1883 - 1929), was an Anglican priest and poet. He was nicknamed 'Woodbine Willy' during World War I for giving Woodbine cigarettes along with spiritual aid to injured and dying soldiers.

Geoffrey Studdert Kennedy was taken ill during an ICF crusade in Liverpool and died on 8th March, 1929.
His proper name was Reverend Studdert Kennedy, an army chaplin he was and he'd come down into the trenches and say prayers with the men, have a cuppa out of a dirty tin mug and tell a joke as good as any of us.
