Geomancers channel the powers of the environment around them. Therefore, their abilities differ depending on where they currently are. If in a forest, they will attack with vines and forest animals, if in a cave with rockslides, if in a desert with quicksand, etc. Geomancers are featured in a few Final Fantasy games, either as a class or in loose association with a characters powers. They first appear in Final Fantasy V. The games they appear in as a class are Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy Tactics. Mog the moogle (Final Fantasy VI) is considered a member of the Dancer class, however, his dances are elemental in nature and change depending on his environment, therefore making his abilities much closer to a Geomancer's than a Dancer's. Since Final Fantasy Tactics, Geomancers have not been featured in Final Fantasy games. Interestingly, in Final Fantasy Tactics, Geomancers are featured in Native American attire, because of the "closeness to nature" aspect of the class. In the "sequel" to Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, the job of Geomancer roughly was translated into the Elementalist job.
The Elementalist An Elementalist can inflict both elemental damage and status abnormalities onto the enemy. Spirit Magic, as it is called, is usually relatively weak, but highly useful. This is mainly because they inflict helpful status abnormalities. Many of the Elementalist's spells are considered "Light" Magic, though for the purposes of "laws" in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, does not count as healing magic.
