While Armstrong was never regarded a star, nor ever named to an All-Star squad, his steady leadership contributed to the longest string of success the Leafs would ever again see. George scored an empty net goal in game six of the 1967 Stanley Cup playoffs to clinch the Cup victory over the Montreal Canadians.
