Bastl is riding an eight-match winning streak in singles after a 6-1, 1-0 (retired) win yesterday against nationally ranked Alex Witt of Northwestern.
Since Bastl was not being challenged enough at South Florida, he decided to look for a top-ranked tennis school to accommodate his huge talents and seek a national championship.
Bastl has even risen to the demands placed upon him as the replacement for Cecil Mamiit, although he feels that he is not under pressure to put up the same numbers Mamiit did a year ago.
