George Dalton (1947-) is an American playwright. He was born in Pana, Illinois. He lived in the rural countryside of Illinois until the ninth grade when he moved with his parents to California. He began his writing career in high school when he published his first short story, "The Log Gun". He attended UCLA in Los Angeles, California where he became interested in and learned the art of playwriting. Since graduating from college in 1969 he has had several plays produced, most notibly A smell of Orchards. He lives in Sacramento, California with his wife, Susan.
