George Earle Chamberlain (January 1, 1854 – July 9, 1928) was an Americanpolitician, legislator, and public official, born near Natchez, Miss. He graduated from the academic and law departments of Washington and Lee University in 1876, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, then practiced law in Oregon and soon became a member of the State legislature. He served as district attorney for the third judicial district, Attorney-General of the State, and district attorney for the fourth judicial district. In 1902 he was elected Democratic Governor of Oregon, and in 1906 he was re-elected. He was twice elected to the United States Senate where he served for twelve years (1909-1921). He was author of the Chamberlain Military Preparedness Bill of 1918. He became a member of the United States Shipping Board for the term 1921-25.
