George Ferguson is an acclaimed Irish Dancer and teacher, originally hailing from Coventry in England, but currently living in Liverpool. George runs the George Ferguson School of Irish Dancing, which consistently produces shows around the Merseyside area, and occasionally performs for private clientele. George Ferguson After growing up in Coventry, George rose in status as a talented Irish dancer, and his passion for the art soon grew to a level of international reckoning, as George performed and competed around the globe. In 1972, George competed in the World Irish Dancing Championships (sometimes referred to as the World Championships for Irish Dance) and took the title at the tender age of 16; == George Ferguson School of Irish Dancing == The Irish Dancing institution which George established, and has run for 26 years, is amongst the best on Merseyside. The school holds classes at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels and accommodates all ages and both sexes. The school's ethos is of a friendy and social attitude towards dance, whilst maintaining a standard of excellence and diligence in regards to performances and competitions. Indeed, there are some outstanding performers enrolled at the school, including many who have won countless awards at feises around the country. Perhaps what the institution is most famous for is its continuing participation in the Liverpool Irish Festival. As well as this, the school is often featured in the Irish Dancing & Culture Magazine [1], and is generally recognised as one of the best Merseyside academies. Last year, the school performed in Germany to great acclaim.
Dancing Timetable All practice classes (for beginners to advance level) take place on a Thursday at Bishop Eton Church Hall between 18:30 and 20:30. Christ the King Parish Hall holds the same practice classes for all levels of dancer on Mondays (18:30-20:30). On Wednesdays, the classes are held at St.Edmund of Canterbury between the same hours. On a Tuesday, intermediate to advanced level classes are held at 19:00 to 20:00. An adult class for dancers of all abilities takes place afterwards from 20:00 to 21:00. |
