George F. Moore (1887 - 1949), as a Major General in the US Army, was the commander of the Harbor Defences of Manila and Subic Bays, the Philippines, at the time of the 1941 Japanese invasion.


From 1942-45, Moore was a POW.


George Foot Moore (October 15, 1851 - May 16, 1931) was a Harvard University Biblical studies professor. He was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania and died in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

George Foot Moore was born on 15 October 1851 in West Chester, Pennsylvania (to the southwest of Philadelphia), and died roughly four years after receiving the letter, on 6 May 1931 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Moore graduated from Yale University in 1872 and Union Theological Seminary in 1877.
In 1902 Moore was appointed a Professor of Theology and then (in 1904) a Professor of History of Religion at Harvard University.
