Encyclopedia > George Francis (suspected mobster)

George Francis (1940 - 2003) was a British citizen who was suspected of involvement in organised crime.

Francis owned a mansion in the county of Kent. He worked as a scrap metal dealer.

For years, however, he had been the subject of many Scotland Yard investigations. In 1981, he was involved in a cannabis smuggling operation's investigation. One officer died during the investigation.

In 1983, he was questioned about a robbery of 26 million pounds that occurred at Heathrow. In 1985, he was shot inside a pub he owned. He survived the attack.

Francis was found dead inside his car on May 15 of 2003, in Bermondsey. He had bullet wounds to the head and chest.
