Georgian Public Broadcasting - Georgian TV broadcasting started its activity in 1956, radio Broadcasting in the twenties of the last century. 85% of Georgian population receive the programs of the First Channel of Georgian TV, 55% receive the programs of the Second Channel. European Countries, CIS among them and Asia Minor receive these programs through the Satellite System and the internet as well.

After adoption of Law on Broadcasting in 2004 process of transformation of State TV into the Public Broadcasting was initiated. In 2005 Parliament of Georgia elected Board of Governors, composed of 9 members. One of them, Tamar Kintsurashvili, form Liberty Institute, later on was elected as first Director General of GPB.
