Byrne is a current member of the Liberal Party of Canada in the Canadian House of Commons, representing the riding of Humber—St. Barbe—Baie Verte since 1996. Byrne is a former political assistant to Brian Tobin. He is currently the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs. Gerald Byrne (August 29, 1938) was born Liverpool, England.
Byrne suffered the injury at Wembley as early as the third minute but played on throughout the game and the whole of extra-time as Liverpool won the Cup for the first time.
Byrne's injury was the latest to try to force the FA's hand and, two years later, the first substitutes were allowed in the FA Cup final.

By age 28, Byrne had latched on to the first of two head superintendent posts before being called in 1996 to serve as turf lord of the manor, so to speak, at The K Club.
Byrne said that the combination of narrow fairways and using a strain of bent grass -- PennA4 -- has helped produce maximum-quality results at the course that hosted the 2004 European Open less than a year after its debut.
Next year, Byrne turns his full attention to coordinating his grounds crew to polish the Palmer Course for the first Ryder Cup to be stage in Ireland.
