Getafe is a city in the southern of the Madrid metropolitan area, Spain, 12 km from downtown. The town's population is 156,320 (INE December 2006). Getafe has an industrial and commercial center, military airport ("Cradle of Spanish aviation" says the slogan), and the town has good transportation links with Madrid by several highways (A-4, A-42 (previous N-401), M-45) and the metropolitan Metro. Among the several industries located in Getafe, there is a factory of EADS (formerly CASA), where several parts of the Airbus are manufactured. Getafe Club de Futbol is a Spanish Primera División football club based in Getafe, a town in the metropolitan area of South Madrid, founded in 1920s and refounded 1983.
Getafe were promoted into the La Liga Spanish top division at the end of the 2003/04 season by finishing second in the Spanish second division.
Getafe had a solid start to the season and actually held pole position in the league for a week.

The Getafe rock does not match any of the previously classified meteorites, and there are no known rocks (terrestrial or extraterrestrial) which display, as a whole, identical textural, mineralogical and geochemical features.
Given that Getafe cannot be catalogued as a meteorite it was officially catalogued for our research group as a pseudometeorite in the meteorite collection of the National Museum of Natural Science, Madrid (Spain).
In 1994 a moving car and its driver, on a highway in southern Madrid (Getafe), were struck by a falling rock.
