He played professional baketball in French league during 1992-1993 season and was an instant hit with fans. The NBA took interest in him and he was drafted by the Washington Bullets in 1993. He played from in the NBA from 1993 to 2000. In those years he played with the Washington Bullets (1993-1998) and the New Jersey Nets (1998-2000). He was named NBA Most Improved Player for the 1995-96 season, averaging career-highs of 14.5 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.26 blocks per game. His NBA career averages were 9.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. After leaving the NBA, Muresan played European basketball, he come back in French league during 2000-2001 season, again for three more years before returning to live in New Jersey with his family. Muresan did not play basketball from a young age but rather he took it up when it was obvious that he was as big as pretty much anyone on the planet.
Muresan spent the 2000-01 back with Pau Orthez and he had a mediocre year, averaging 7.9 ppg and 3.1 rpg in the regular season before leaving the team with injuries during the Suproleague.
Muresan spent the next two years recovering from injuries (he had some undisclosed surgery believed to be on his pituitary gland).
