Gi is from Asia (Presumably Japan*). Gi did her part in helping to protect dolphin, enjoying their company and playful nature as well. During a game of catch played with a throwing ring, Gi's playmate dolfin returned the ring with a golden finger ring about it, a blue symbol on the stone.
Predictably, Gi gained the power of water, enabling her to control water in a telekinesis manner, so long as it is clean enough to be affected by her ring. Gi tends to be the most scientifically informed of the planeteers and is usually the authority on technology. (Gi was the first pilot of the planeteers' personal aircraft, the geo cruiser). While Gi is rather intelligent, she can sometimes get carried away on her feelints, such as when she discovered the invention of the garbage-eating microbe (And on a more intense note, when she discovered who was responsible for shooting her teacher and friend at school).
* In "Summit to Save Earth", Gi said "Sayonara" to one of the villains with the proper Japanese pronunciation.
CaptainPlanet is often referred to as a superhero as he is a caricature of nobility, wears a flamboyant costume and has many superpowers.
CaptainPlanet is formed by combining the powers of the rings of the five Planeteers, which represented the four Classical elements: Earth (wielded by Kwame), Fire (Wheeler), Wind (Linka), Water (Gi) -- and the additional power of Heart (Ma-ti).
CaptainPlanet has a very impressive array of powers: He can fly, has great strength, the ability to blow hurricane force winds, telepathy, telekinesis, can change shape, transmute matter, and virtually any other super-power required by the circumstances currently facing him, which, in fact was one of the criticisms against the show.
