Giant Wake Robin or Sessile Trillium (Trillium chloropetalum) is a spring-flowering perennial plant native to the west and north-west coast of the United States.
The flowers are a deep red colour. A typical monocot, it has leaves and flowers that are grouped in threes. It is clump-forming and prefers a shady habitat, since its natural habitat is the woodland floor.
The leaves are edible, and considered a delicacy by slugs.
Wal-Mart officials acknowledge, and several Congressional aides confirm, that the retail giant is sitting out the debate on the minimum wage increase.
Wake Up Wal-Mart, a group primarily funded by labor groups, last week challenged the company to endorse raising the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25 per hour, after plans put forward by Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.), and then to lobby in support of the change.
The truth is Wal-Mart is choosing to ignore the millions of Americans who are waking up to the fact that Wal-Mart must change for the better.
