Gin, or Jing Nationality (京族; Pinyin: Jīngzú) is the name given to ethnic Vietnamese living in China. They form one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the People's Republic of China. They speak Vietnamese, mixed with Cantonese dialect and mainly live on 3 islands off the coast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The population of the Gin indigenous to China was just over 20,000 in 2000. This number does not include ethnic Vietnamese nationals from Vietnam studying or working in China.
