Soldiers ordered to clean up oil pollution - theage.com.au (630 words)
In Bordeaux, the Gironde regional govern-ment announced that oyster-gathering would be banned in the large nearby Bassin D'Arcachon bay because of pollution.
The worst hit areas were the coastlines of the Landes, between the Spanish border and north of the Gironde estuary above Bordeaux.
The Gironde authorities said collection of oysters and other shellfish from the bay was banned as of late Saturday and their sale like-wise banned as of Sunday because of oil pollution found on the edge of the inlet.
