Biography Born in Bagheria near Palermo, Tornatore shown interest in theatre and acting well from the age of 16. He then switched to cinema, making his debut with a documentary movie called Le minoranze etniche in Sicilia (Ethnical minorities in Sicily), which won a Salerno Festival prize. He then went on working for RAI, before releasing his first full-length movie, Il Camorrista, in 1985.
