The first festival took place on May 2, 2005 at Alexandra Palace, North London. | - Brand New came onto the side stage in Birmingham claiming to be the Flaming Lips and then played four songs before leaving. They did so in place of Saosin whose lead singer Cove Reber suffered an illness moments after playing the London show the night before.
- It was announced in a bulletin via the Give It A Name MySpace page that the secret Special Guests on the AFI headlined night were not to be announced in advance and that the band were going to just "walk on and play." Another bulletin via MySpace announced that the Special Guests for Birmingham had to cancel and no replacement was found in time. To compensate, AFI and Jimmy Eat World played longer sets.
- This was the second time that Alexisonfire, Fightstar, and mewithoutyou played as all of these bands played at the 2005 Give It A Name festival (see above for full line-up).
- The Glasgow date was downgraded from the Glasgow SECC to the Carling Academy Glasgow due to poor ticket sales.
- The Automatic were confirmed as the secret special guests for the London date only. On their official forum they state that they needed time in the studio, and consequently they appeared only in the London leg. They headlined the London Guitar Show on the same afternoon.

Interesting events - At Give It A Name 2006, wiL Francis from Aiden joined Goldfinger on stage to sing the song "Open Your Eyes".
- On Sunday 30th April 2006 at Earls Court, Taking Back Sunday vocalist Adam Lazzara accidentally hit bassist Matt Rubano in the face with a microphone, which he was spinning around. Matt suffered mild concussion, and received an injury to his head which required many stitches. He went off stage for about five minutes then came back on to finish their set. Another mishap occurred during the band's last song a day earlier at the MEN Arena when the pedal to the bass drum broke and the band had to stall whilst a replacement was found.
- Also on Saturday April 28th, Cove Reber, frontman of Saosin was admitted to hospital when he began vomiting profusely after the band's set. The band were consequently unable to play the Birmingham show the following day. He was treated in hospital for gastro-intestinal problems.
- On Saturday April 28 2007 Senses Fail raised controversy after lead singer Buddy Nielsen stated how he "wished to have sex with Princess Dianas rotting corpse. He did not repeat the statement the following day at Birmingham NIA.
- On Saturday April 28 2007 at London Earls Court Kevin Devine was joined on stage by Brand New to play the majority of his set. Consequently Kevin Devine would join Brand New on stage to perform a number of songs and also play acoustic guitar on the finale song "Welcome To Bangkok".
- On Sunday April 29 2007, during AFI's London Set, Tiger Army's lead vocalist, Nick 13, joined Davey Havok on stage to perform A Single Second.
