History

The City Halls was designed by John Carrick 1882 was the first concert hall to be built in the City played host to the likes of Benjamin Disraeli, Charles Dickens and William Gladstone.


Not to be confused with other city halls, which are the council halls, Glasgow's City Hall is located on Candleriggs, in the Merchant City and featured concerts by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchastra. It has been a venue for many of Glasgow's Festivals, including Mayfest and the Jazz Festival. The Merchant City, is a district of Glasgow, Scotland. ...

Concert Hall


The City Hall and Old Fruit Market re-opened in January 2006 after undergoing a period of renovation [1]. The refurbished halls are now the base venue for the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and a regular performance space for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in Glasgow.

Glasgow (or Glaschu in Gaelic) is Scotland's largest city and unitary council, situated on the River Clyde in the country's west central lowlands.
The City Centre is bounded by the High Street to the East, the River Clyde to the South and the M8 motorway to the West and North which cut a swathe through the Charing Cross and Anderston areas in the 1960s.
Glasgow is home to a student population in excess of 168,000, second only to London in the UK, the majority of them living in the west-end of the city, near Glasgow University's main campus on Gilmorehill.
