Music (1063 words)
Glaur - (gla-oor) This is a short, broad-mouthed and flaring curved horn, resembling a cornucopia in shape and fashioned of silver (which gives the clearest tone), copper, or brass.
A glaur is usually fitted with a row of valves like those of a trumpet, so that the sound it makes can be varied in pitch.
Played correctly, the valves of a glaur are not used to change the distinct note being played, but rather cause the instrument's tone to rise or fall from the note presently played to the newly selected one.
