Gloaming was a famous Australian-bred racehorse who raced primaily in New Zealand. Gloaming raced just after the Great War at the same time as the American all time great Man O' War. He had a phenomenal record of 19 wins in a row, and won 57 of his 67 races. He was successful at distances from 6 furlongs to a mile and a half. Gloaming raced just after the Great War at the same time as the American all time great Man O' War.
Gloaming had 67 race starts, won 57 and was second 9 times.
Gloaming had a long racing life from aged 3 to aged 9 which included victories over other champion racehorses such as Desert Gold, Beauford, Whittier and The Hawk.

Gloaming finally made it back to Sydney without a problem but now he was a 7yo and the new star of the Australian racing was Beauford.
Gloaming was quickly overhauling Beauford but the post loomed too soon and the leader held on by a neck with four lengths back to Specialty in third.
Gloaming then headed home with plans for the New Zealand Summer carnival as in the previous years but after winning the Champion Plate by a length from Winning Hit the old horse lost condition and was spelled.
