The Global Pagoda is a monument being built near the city of Mumbai, India. The plan is to make a Vipassana centre within the Pagoda. The Global Pagoda will contain the world's largest stone dome built without any supporting pillars. This pagoda will serve a very important functional value as the stupendous stone dome of the Global Pagoda is also envisaged to be the world's largest meditation hall. The massive inner dome will seat over 8000 people enabling them to combinedly practice the non-sectarian Vipassana meditation as taught by Mr S.N. The Global Pagoda, that will be 100 metres high when fully complete and expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, is being built combining ancient Indian and modern technology to enable it to last for atleast a 2000 years.


The Global Pagoda design is an expression of gratitude towards the country of Myanmar for preserving the practice of Vipassana. Additionally, the Global Pagoda's educational displays will communicate the Buddha's universal teaching as a path towards real happiness.
