Globosat is a multichannel, subscription-based cable and satellite TV service in Brazil, created in 1991, after the creation of cable and satellite TV services. It also distributes one channel in Portugal. In 1993, Globosat split its content generation and distribution businesses. Cable TV sales and distribution was assigned to Net Brasil, which was also responsible for installing cable networks in selected cities. Content production and programming remained with Globosat, renamed to Globosat Programadora.
