Goheung is composed of the Goheung Peninsula, 38 inhabited islands and 122 uninhabited islands.
To the east across the Suncheon Bay (순천만, 順天灣) is the city of Yeosu, to the west across the Boseong Bay (보성만, 寶城灣) are the counties of Boseong and Jangheung, and to the south is the Dado Sea (다도해).
