Golubac (Голубац) is a village and municipality on the north-eastern border of Serbia, on the right side of the river Danube. The population of the village is 1,896, and population of the municipality is 9,913. The name of the village derives from golub which is Serbian for pidgeon or dove, therefore often translated as "the town of doves". Due to many archeological sites and the national park "Djerdap" nearby, the village is a popular tourist, fishing and sailing destination.
