The Golulaka (Cinder) sect of Buddhism split from the Mahāsaṃghika during the reign of Aśoka. The Golulikas believed that all phenomena necessarily involve suffering and that the skandhas are mere cinders.


The Bahuśritīya and Prajñaptivāda split from Golulikas in late third century BCE
