Encyclopedia > Goodwick

Goodwick is a coastal town in Pembrokeshire, Wales, immediately west of its twin town of Fishguard. Originally planned to be the end of the Great Western Railway's line and their major sea port, problems with the design of the harbour prevented the larger ocean liners from docking. The port now accommodates a Stena Line service to Rosslare, Ireland by ferry and catamaran (seasonal). Some fishing takes place on a small scale although most activity in the county occurs in Milford Haven.

The main industry is now tourism, although in the town's more industrial past, brick making was also important.
