Some people have attempted to introduce the ideas of John Norman's Gor fantasy novels into their own lives, whether in reality, in fantasy, or somewhere in-between. These followers of Norman's novels are called Goreans. Goreans are generally disdained by the mainstream of BDSM practitioners, because the "Gorean" philosophy rejects the ideas of "Safe, Sane and Consensual"/"Risk Aware Consensual Kink".
To a Gorean Merchant, this is not an indication of personal greed; rather it is proof positive of their supreme devotion to the codes which they have sworn to obey, codes which command them to obtain the best possible price for their goods and services.
Gorean coins are not struck from machine-engraved dies, nor are they minted through the usage of such devices as automated coin-presses.
Gorean often make use of paper "monetary drafts" or "promisary notes" which may be drawn on the various banking institutions and money-lenders against the credit of the draftee.
Gorean society is divided up into "Castes." Each profession or occupation comprises its own caste, and each caste is ranked according to its particular place in Gorean societal interaction.
Although the caste structure is rather rigid in its requirements, it is possible for a person to alter his or her caste, or to "raise" or "lower" his or her caste according to personal ability and aptitude.
Goreans will often wear clothing of their caste color which makes it known at a glance that they are members of a particular caste.
