Gorebridge is an old mining town in Midlothian, Scotland.
Gorebridge gets it's name from the river "Gore" of which a Bridge was once over.
Annette Crosbie, known to many as the long suffering wife of Victor Meldrew, played by fellow Scot Richard Wilson, in the BBC Comedy series "One Foot in the Grave." is a former resident of Gorebridge.
Gorebridge is a rural community to the South of, and within easy travelling distance of Edinburgh.
The population of Gorebridge is approximately six thousand: still almost a village, and so is small enough not to be impersonal.
Many new families are coming to live in the community, realising the advantages of more affordable housing, a good choice of schools and attractive countryside all within a short commuting distance from Edinburgh.
